A brand-new rarity: Futuristic Rare (FUR)

The headline of 30th Celebration is a rarity the Pokémon TCG has never had before: Futuristic Rare, or FUR. It's defined by vivid, forward-looking artwork, and it debuts with three of the franchise's most iconic faces — Mew ex, Mewtwo ex and Pikachu ex. All three are illustrated by the Tokyo graphic artist YOSHIROTTEN, giving the cards a bold, contemporary look that sits apart from the usual TCG style.

YOSHIROTTEN — even the energy is a design piece

YOSHIROTTEN's involvement doesn't stop at the chase cards. Every pack includes one guaranteed special Basic Energy card, and those are his designs too — so even the most functional card in the set is something worth looking at. It's an unusual move, and a sign of how far the 30th set leans into art and collectability.

Thirty artists, thirty Pikachu

To mark thirty years, thirty different illustrators have each drawn their own Pikachu, and one of these is guaranteed in every pack. The result is thirty distinct takes on the mascot — a spread of styles that turns opening a pack into a small game of "which one did I get?"

Thirty years, reimagined

Alongside the new art, thirty cards from Pokémon's history return in special finishes — with early names including Charizard and Pikachu & Zekrom GX. These are collector pieces: the reprints aren't legal in the current Standard format, so they're made to be displayed and enjoyed rather than played. The set also includes original illustrations of Pokémon at different times of day, each carrying the 30th anniversary Pikachu mark.

Every card holo, one launch, one day

Every card in every pack is holo — six per pack — and 30th Celebration is the first set in Pokémon TCG history to launch worldwide on the same day: 16 September 2026. For collectors outside Japan, that's a genuine shift; there's no months-long wait behind the Japanese release this time.

What we still don't know

The full card list hasn't been published yet, so the total number of cards — and the complete FUR line-up — is still to be confirmed. We'll update this as official reveals land.
